Jersey Politics

I was reading the front section of the LA Times today (yes, I still do read Dead Tree Media) and I saw an 1/4 page ad for this:

Whatever your politics are, you have to agree... having a jersey based on a president being elected would be pretty sweet. I would have loved a Chester Arthur 21/81 jersey to wear around town. Is this a great country or what?

Look at the "08". Don't tell me that the new wave of NHL jerseys weren't the inspiration for it.

I went to check out the Xtreme Fanz website and saw that there is a Football, a Basketball and a "Women" option for the Obama jersey... but no ice hockey. So I emailed their customer service department and they informed me that they have no plans to offer a hockey style jersey. It seems that the sport of hockey was a part of this election year, more than any before. Some of that is obvious. But if the Obama 08 campaign was truly about change... isn't it about time we see an Obama hockey jersey for sale? I bet if McCain/Palin had won there would be one.

Vote For Change

Los Angeles Kings fans have been calling for change. Change for a better tomorrow. Change we need. Change we can believe in. That's right my fellow Americans. Tomorrow night against the Ducks. This man will bring change:

The crowd goes wild as Erik Ersberg takes Ohio and Florida.

That's right. Erik Ersberg is getting his chance. Against the Ducks on Tuesday night, the same team that just had 3 forwards selected as the best of last week. That shouldn't be too much of a challenge should it?

Ersberg came out of nowhere at the end of last season, with a few flashes of stability in an otherwise un-stable season of Los Angeles King goaltenders. (let's see... Jason LaBarbera, Jean-Sabastien Aubin, Dan Cloutier, Jonathan Bernier, Jonathan Quick and Daniel Taylor) He's not flashy and he's not the answer for the Kings long term but he has every chance in the world to steal away the #1 position from Jason LaBarbera tomorrow night.

But will I be there? My Half Season Ticket Holder buddy and I are in a formal debate, trying to decide if we should use our tickets tomorrow night or exchange them for a later game. Every presidential election is a momentous occasion, but tomorrow night's election is more important than ever. Do we want to find out who will be the next president with 11,000 (projected actual attendance) of our fellow King fans? Or should we spend it at home with girlfriends and wives, in front of the TV watching the pundits guess left and right? But, if the election isn't decided by 10:30pm Pacific, would we be upset that we didn't go to the game?

These are the questions facing our country right now.

BREAKING NEWS:
11/4: We are not going to the game. Instead we will exchange tonight's tickets for the Feb 16th game against the Thrashers since we only have 2 games in February as part of our Half Season Ticket Package.

But if Obama wins Florida and Ohio before the face-off, I'm going to be pissed! Well, not really.
