P O'd

Well it's always an honor when The Royal Half gets a little action in the hockey blog-o-sphere. But imagine our surprise when a glowing review of this site came in from the immortal Pensblog!

...some LA Kings blog no one will ever read.
-The Pensblog 9/9/09

One particular post from last week has inspired a little friendly ribbing between hockey blog gods PuckDaddy and Pensblog. PuckDaddy was kind enough to link to my post about the Sydney Crosby urinal cards featured during the November 5th game. And Pensblog, understandably so, is tired of seeing its favorite player get peed on in opposing NHL rinks. So Pensblog retaliated the best way he knew how... by pissing on Puck Daddy.

Keep an eye out at Pensblog as they will collect user submitted photoshops of NHL Superstar Sydney Crosby peeing on things. I love the internet.

So remember all that talk about Coach Murray "shaking" things up for tonights game against the hapless Carolina Hurricanes? So the big changes? Old man Sean O'Donnell gets a night off and spare defensemen Randy Jones and Peter Harrold get the call. And enforcer Raitis Ivanans sits because the Hurricanes can't afford to lose anymore players. Oh and the Kings backup goalie starts for the 2nd time all season. Earth shattering!

Hey guys! Did you hear! I'm starting tonight! I'M STARTING!
You're not gonna have Erik Ersberg to kick around anymore!

Erik Ersberg reminds me of Cricket from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

This guy has won as many games this season as Ersberg.

So let's see what the ever expanding Dean Lombardi Philadelphia pipeline will bring with Randy Jones in the lineup tonight. And let's see how Ersberg responds to being called out pretty much all season by Coach Murray for his inefficient play. It's LA Kings hockey and this time... it's televised!

Down Goes Ersberg!

The San Jose Sharks now have 52 points in their first 30 games. That beats an NHL record from... oh... say... 80 years ago! To say the Sharks are having an amazing season is an understatement. A stupid understatment. They are unreal. The Sharks are 8 points ahead of the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings. This is a good team. And you know what... the Los Angeles Kings looked like they could have beat them tonight. I'll take the point earned by the Kings against the juggernaut that are the Sharks. But man, has this Kings team looked great in the last 3 games or what?

Kings 2, Sharks 3 (SO)

The biggest question here is the severity of Erik Ersberg's injury. Sure, Jason LaBarbera came in and played solidly... everyone knows the shootout is not his strength... but there is no denying that Ersberg has been incredibly good the last 3 games and if he doesn't get hurt tonight... the Kings would have come out with a victory. It is a shame if Ersberg is out for an extended time, because the Kings really seem to be coming together ever since the Coach Murray's Line Combinations of Fun™ came around. Teddy Purcell is an improvement over Kyle Calder in one huge aspect... he knows how to get the puck to his linemates. Purcell is always looking to feed it to Patrick O'Sullivan or Anze Kopitar. That is how you are going to generate offense on a NHL top line.

Also, the Kings announced today that 19 Year Old Oscar "The Scar" Moller will be allowed to play for Sweden in the World Junior Championships. This is a brilliant move by Dean Lombardi. Oscar has been playing well, even though he is stuck between the 2 tree stumps known as Ivanans and Zeiler. This way Moller gets to go be the Captain of the Swedish team, gain a ton of experience and come back to the Kings at the most in 10 days.

Speaking of Sweden... the ad wizards who created the NHL Hockey meets Hitler Assassination Thriller decided to try a different representative for their films unique subject matter...

At least Slovenia was occupied by the Germans during WW2.

Fox Sports also broke out their sweet holiday themed Snowflake Wipe. Honestly, I think this is one cool looking snowflake.

Soon the Snowflake will be hosting Kings Live.

And finally, the NBC show Chuck is already on its last legs. An interview with the "Kiss of Death" Heidi Androl can't help in its bid to get picked up for another season.

Sweet jacket, bro.

Vote For Change

Los Angeles Kings fans have been calling for change. Change for a better tomorrow. Change we need. Change we can believe in. That's right my fellow Americans. Tomorrow night against the Ducks. This man will bring change:

The crowd goes wild as Erik Ersberg takes Ohio and Florida.

That's right. Erik Ersberg is getting his chance. Against the Ducks on Tuesday night, the same team that just had 3 forwards selected as the best of last week. That shouldn't be too much of a challenge should it?

Ersberg came out of nowhere at the end of last season, with a few flashes of stability in an otherwise un-stable season of Los Angeles King goaltenders. (let's see... Jason LaBarbera, Jean-Sabastien Aubin, Dan Cloutier, Jonathan Bernier, Jonathan Quick and Daniel Taylor) He's not flashy and he's not the answer for the Kings long term but he has every chance in the world to steal away the #1 position from Jason LaBarbera tomorrow night.

But will I be there? My Half Season Ticket Holder buddy and I are in a formal debate, trying to decide if we should use our tickets tomorrow night or exchange them for a later game. Every presidential election is a momentous occasion, but tomorrow night's election is more important than ever. Do we want to find out who will be the next president with 11,000 (projected actual attendance) of our fellow King fans? Or should we spend it at home with girlfriends and wives, in front of the TV watching the pundits guess left and right? But, if the election isn't decided by 10:30pm Pacific, would we be upset that we didn't go to the game?

These are the questions facing our country right now.

BREAKING NEWS:
11/4: We are not going to the game. Instead we will exchange tonight's tickets for the Feb 16th game against the Thrashers since we only have 2 games in February as part of our Half Season Ticket Package.

But if Obama wins Florida and Ohio before the face-off, I'm going to be pissed! Well, not really.
